So what's left for the Basingstoke Bison now that Steve Moria has departed ? Well, if the Bison are to succeed next year and keep most of their best Brits they need to appoint a coach asap whether it be Doug Sheppard or another, although suspect Mr Sheppard has already been approached and is already team building for the Bison 2012/2013 season.
So let’s take a look at last year’s squad and see whether the players could/may return.

Bronnimann has had a poor season by his standards and knows this, with Sheppard in charge I think he will stay, keep away from injury and have a better season |

Chinn seems to becoming Mr Bison ! local fireman another to re-sign. |

Heron - I think will be one player Sheppard will sacrifice for another top Brit the likes of Ryan Watt!!! |

Viktor Kubenko |

Kubenko - not the best of returns points-wise from an import forward, don't think he will be asked to return more likely to be replaced by Pliskauskas !! |

Joe Miller |

Miller - a top Brit who will go from strength to strength a must re-sign for Sheppard. |

Sam Oakford |

Oakford I think will stop as I think he maybe under a 2 year contract but may get better offers from the likes of the Bees - contracts mean nothing. |

Marcel Petran |

Petran will be on the move as Sheppard will want to bring in his own thoughts on D imports, perhaps Mindaugas ! |

Redmond? Could make way for a younger D man in Sam Waller, watch this space! |

Kurt Reynolds |

Reynolds will stay at Bison. |

Tribe will not be asked back as I think Sheppard may bring in the likes of a Connolly/Davies |

Again like Kubenko not the greatest of goal returns from an import so again Sheppard will replace him. |

Needs to impress Sheppard to get that number 1 spot, will re-sign I think. |

Wiggins will be on the move this year methinks, not far but on the move as Sheppard will want to bring a bit more goal scoring to the 3rd line. |

Cameron Wynn |

Wynn will be signed as the local lad 10th forward. |

So what will the Bison get ? New coach Sheppard who will bring in fresh faces, mostly I think from the Jets in the likes of Watt, Pliskauskas, Mindaugas, Waller, Connolly or Davies, a new import and maybe one more from Slough.

Reynolds Returns! - 30th of April 2012
The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce that Kurt Reynolds has re-signed for the 2012/13 English Premier League season.
Kurt had a stand out season last year winning Coaches, Supporters British Player & Supporters Player of the Year awards at the recent End of season event.
Bison Head Coach, Doug Sheppard said, “I’m delighted that I have been able to re-sign Kurt as many teams in the league were interested in his signature. Kurt is a solid, dependable defenseman that can be relied upon to get the job done. He has matured into a fantastic player over the past four seasons and now brings a wealth of talent along with great energy and undeniable heart. "
Speaking ahead of his return for a fifth straight season in Basingstoke, Reynolds said, "Doug sat me down and outlined his vision for next season and then said I was a key part of that vision. It’s great that he’s back leading the Herd and the team he’s putting together is really exciting and will surprise many people. I really think that this is the year that we can challenge for silverware”.
Further signings will be released on Wednesday evening (2nd May) at the Herds “meet the coach evening” as well as whom will Captain the Bison next season. Season tickets details will also be announced and can be purchased as the Herd begin the build-up to the 2012/13 season. The event will commence at 7.30pm in the ice rink bar.
Following the success of last season’s Own-and-Loan jersey’s scheme, Kurt’s 2012/13 season Home and Away jerseys will be available to purchase at £150 and £120 respectively. All Owners and Loaners will have their name printed on the back of the player’s jersey, as well as having the opportunity of a photograph with their respective player at the end of the season.
For the chance to own Kurt’s jersey all you have to do is e-mail info@bstokebison.co.uk each jersey will be dealt with on a strictly first-come, first-served basis.
Young fans can sponsor Kurt for the year. This will cost £30 for the season and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Email info@bstokebison.co.uk to secure your favourite player.

Bison Add Top Defenceman! 10th of May 2012 The ADD Recycling Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of top British defenceman Alex Symonds.
After helping Slough to the English Premier League play-off crown last month the Welsh man is eager to add more silverware this time wearing a Herd jersey.
The 23 year old was keen to link up with his coach of last term Doug Sheppard and believes he is building another impressive team.
Cardiff born Symonds said: "Doug knows what it takes to win trophies and I think we have every chance of doing it again.
"I am looking forward to playing in Basingstoke and the fans make it a really great atmosphere to play in."
Symonds started his career with his home town team the Cardiff Devils winning the Elite Challenge Cup.
He then had spells at Telford and Peterborough before returning to the Elite League with Cardiff in season 2010/11. He then moved to Slough where he picked up 13 points including one goal.
Bison player/coach Sheppard was delighted to have snapped up another excellent signing to the Herd and said: "He is a really solid stay at home defenceman, great on the penalty kill and in the dressing room. I know Symmo can shut down any first line players and along with Kurt (Reynolds) and Stevie (Lyle) this is a great start to our defence.
Sheppard added: "Last season Basingstoke conceded too many goals and that is one thing I want to reduce this year."
Symonds' own and loan home and away jersey is available to purchase at £150 and £120 respectively. All Owners and Loaners will have their name printed on the back of the player’s jersey, as well as having the opportunity of a photograph with their respective player at the end of the season.
All you have to do is e-mail info@bstokebison.co.uk - the shirts will be dealt with on a first-come, first-served basis, when the announcement is made on the official Basingstoke Bison website.
Young fans can sponsor their favourite player for the year. This will cost £30 for the season and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. When the announcement is made on the Official Basingstoke Bison website, email info@bstokebison.co.uk to secure your favourite player. |
